Who are we?

The Democracy Network is a nonpartisan grassroots movement fighting to preserve American democracy. Founded in early 2021 in response to escalating voter suppression nationwide, the Network works to raise awareness regarding the erosion of America's democratic institutions. To that end we engage in three primary forms of activism:

  • Informing. We believe that the first step to fighting back against any injustice is being aware of it. To that end, we launched The Democracy Update—a 100% free periodic newsletter that shines a light on threats to American democracy as they develop.

  • Advocating. One of our top priorities is pushing for real change. That's why one of our primary activities is direct outreach to elected officials, whether in the form of letters, meetings, or otherwise. We believe that by emphasizing the urgency of the moment and the magnitude of the threat, we can help push our elected leaders to confront the problem.

  • Elevating. The overwhelming majority of Americans support measures to strengthen our democracy and oppose the ongoing efforts in many states to weaken it. The fight to uphold democracy is American, not partisan. We endeavor to provide a platform through which Americans of all political backgrounds can be heard in voicing their support for democracy.

Since our founding, we have grown tremendously and our message now reaches more people than ever before. Across all platforms, thanks to our growing network of newsletter subscribers, social media followers, and others, our message gets out to thousands of people across the United States.
